GROW is a meat free cafe like no other in Manchester. It’s a space to eat, an environment to learn, a platform to create…this is a place to GROW.
GROW has been cultivated from a collaboration between two of the University’s award-winning teams. The health, sustainability and wellbeing champions, MetMUnch, have used their nutritional expertise and creativity to develop Manchester’s newest meat free offering alongside the innovative and forward-thinking Catering Team.
With alternative diets becoming increasingly popular, GROW offers a meat free menu tailor-made to tingle the taste buds with diverse flavours from around the globe, whilst ensuring each product is packed full of nutritional powers!
This bespoke vegan and vegetarian offering gives the people of Manchester the chance to sample a range of delicious food regardless of whether you work or study at the University. Our menu includes designer salads created by a Nutritional Sciences student in collaboration with a registered nutritionist and the University’s executive chef, all crafted with a focus on specific vitamins and minerals, hand-made bagels designed to give the brain a boost and high protein vegan brownies to help make those gains.
Not content to food, the space will also stimulate minds through creative workshops that will have personal growth and wellbeing at the forefront. GROW will allow people to get hands-on with horticulture, de-stress with mindfulness and yoga sessions with MMU Sport, and learn from experts in unique master classes.
We want GROW to have a sustainability focus too. We have saved the chairs from the scrap heap, freshening them up with vibrant colours and fabric from an ends bin. The tables are an amazing mix of repurposed scaffolding planks and steel legs. We have wooden cutlery available, and all bottles are made of glass. We try our best to ensure that all of our food is all locally sourced too, collaborating with local businesses, such as Trove bakery.
Eat, learn, create, this is a place to GROW.
